Percy
Hi Janice
Just wanted to let you know that Percy (aka Miami) has made himself quite at home. He was out from hiding within 15 minutes and downstairs playing not longer after. He is excellent with the children and despite strong provocation a couple of times is really gentle with them. We have a bit to go with the dogs as Percy seems to take great delight in whacking them on the nose when they are minding their own business, so far he's got away with it but he is definitely pushing his luck.
Percy is a delight, he is playful, gentle and confident and loves nothing better than to be cuddled up on a lap or on our feet at night. The children made him a bed out of a cardboard box which he loves to hide in and peek out of. Thank you for finding us such a wonderful cat.
Karen.

Elle and Woody

Hi there, just wanted to give you a quick update on Elle and Woody who we adopted in Sept 2010. They are wonderful cats and both have very different personalities. Woody is happy to spend most his time sleeping and occasionally playing, Elle however is always on the go and plays with anything that moves. They both enjoy going outside during the day and playing in the garden and are frequent visitors in my mums garden who lives close by. They are both very affectionate and love to come for cuddles in the evening. Woody often follows people who walk past the house just in the hope they'll give him a quick stroke!
Anyway thanks again for 2 great cats!

Debbie and Simon

Riley and Jake

Hi there,
Here's an update on our 2 gorgeous boys. Riley and Jake (AKA Kansas and Vegas ) joined our home on 11th November 2011 and we're thrilled to say they settled in really fast, they are both an absolute joy and are very spoilt. Jake ( full tabby ) is a confident boy but quite sensitive and likes quiet sometimes, so when he's had enough he goes to bed for a bit of me time.
Riley ( white boots ) however is very confident and fears nothing, he's full of mischief most of the time and when he wants to play he jumps on top of Jake's igloo and squashes him 'till he comes out. They love to 'help' put the shopping away and are always inspecting cupboards and the fridge. They love to watch the fish in our tanks and look out of the window and chatter to the birds, soon they will be allowed outside but only when our garden has been made safe for them, we don't want them to roam as we wouldn't rest, but we don't want them to miss out on the fun they could have in the garden so our next project is cat proof fencing for them.
Thank you so much
Debs and Simon

Bodhi and Bella 2012
Hi
The Mafiosi are very well and very healthy. They've had their vaccinations and the vet was very pleased with them...they were not so happy with the vet. This they both made very clear by their CONSTANT wailing. The poor receptionist couldn't hear for the noise.
Bella is still bringing us earthworms - alive. Always a treat in the morning when one is dropped on your chest. She is so utterly pleased with herself that to show disdain would be unfair. Bodhi continues to try out the vegetarian experience. Despite us buying the most expensive cat biscuit from Pets at Home, Bodhi scavenges for the odd bit of green veg that may have been dropped on the kitchen floor by accident. He is also fast to catch any Quorn (raw or cooked) that may also fall in preparing supper.
After much thought we decided we would go for a Christmas tree this year - although we had to buy a new one as they'd made such a mess of last year's. They only wrecked the bottom branches this year. Although the baubles seem to be found in some strange places (Ray's sock drawer).
They are such affectionate sweethearts and I'm so pleased we adopted them in December 2010. Each day they bring much love, much affection, and MUCH mischief.
Thank you for all your hard work.
Best wishes for 2012.
Sue

Monty

Hi Janice,
Just an update on Monty for you.
Monty is doing really well, it didnt take him long to settle
into his new home with us. As you will see, all of his fur
has grown back now and he looks really beautiful.
Monty is a lovely cat and everybody loves him. He is very
spoilt and has us well and truly wrapped around his
paw (and he knows it!).
It's a bit of a battle to groom him, and we come out of it
the worst, however it's well worth it as we love him so
much.
We can't remember what we did without him now,
thank you for letting us adopt him.
Jen and Rich x

According to our adoption papers Bodhi and Bella (aka Jeremy and Alice) turned one on Friday. We're amazed that Bodhi has reached this age as his nature is to test all of his 9 lives out at once. As one of my friends said "he'll get older, but NEVER wiser". Bella remains the brains of the team. And after the Roger McGough poem Mafia Cats (which he wrote for the Cats Protection League) the kittens are now nicknamed the Mafia Cats.
Bella will come dashing in from the garden and stare intently out of the bedroom window. She scans left to right and back again as if watching Cat CCTV. The look of concentration on her face it highly amusing. She then spots some infringement to their "patch" and speeds down the stairs at 200mph. Woe-betide anyone walking up or down the stairs at the time. She might be tiny (she's almost half the size of her brother despite a very good appetite) but she can send you flying.
She is also very bossy when it comes to wanting a cuddle. Unless you drop what you're doing and fuss her that very moment you will be head-butted and wailed at. I was late home from the hospital the other day and also received a good "talking to" by her. I then had to abandon the idea of cuppa and give her a good lump of love instead.
On the subject of meows...Bodhi can probably be heard on Mars. He has a habit of bouncing on to the bed at 5.30am and meowing as close to my ears as he can. The first time he tried this trick I levitated out of bed. Ear plugs help, but are no real prevention. He has such a smile on his face and stunning purr that you can't be cross. He then settles down for cuddles until the alarm goes off.
Both love to have their tummies tickled. Bodhi has also developed strategies to push me off the office chair when I'm sat writing my dissertation...Yes the house really is owned and run by the Mafia Cats.
It's been 8 months since we adopted these two characters and life is purr-fect.
Here are some up to date photos.
Best wishes
Sue

Norm is such a lovely little guy.  He's got a
fantastic personality and even my friends
who aren't that keen on cats fall completely
in love with him.  His missing leg causes him
no problems when he's playing and running
about, and certainly doesn't stop him from
Superman diving off the window sill!  He's a
brilliant little creature and has become a dear friend.
Thank you so much for letting me take him in.

Keep up the fab work.  I've recommended you
to everyone I know.

Warmest regards,

Jude Lewis

Mog
Hello,
I’m just writing to say thank you so much, you have found my cat! Mog went missing after we moved house and we were starting to  give up hope. We put his picture on your website and six weeks after he disappeared got a call from you to say that you thought you may have a match with a found cat (S8 area). I rang the number you gave me and whilst I was on the phone they looked at your website and straight away confirmed it was Mog!

I picked him up yesterday from the lovely family who found and looked after him. Thank you so much. Without you we would not have found him. I’m making sure he has his name and contact details in case he goes again, but you have also advised me to keep him in for about 8 weeks which I will do.
Keep up the good work. It really works!
Many thanks
Karen Ennis

Bertie
Hi Janice,
Many thanks for your lovely card and for forwarding Bertie's pedigree, it was really appreciated!
After two and a half weeks of Bertie being in his new home he is really starting to settle in now and his cheeky character is really starting to show.
His two favourite things are food (he never fails to hear the fridge open!)
and sneaking into the bedroom and sprawling out on the bed! I think it's safe to say that he has us wrapped around his huge paw and Dayzee (our female Persian) is even starting to warm to him too although he is still a little unsure of her.
He is loving having so many windows and sometimes can't decide which he wants to look out of the most so runs from one to the other.
We bought some catnip a few days ago and spread it on the floor which Bertie loved rolling about in for about 20 mins, that is until he decided to eat some (he thinks everything is food!) and made himself a little sick so we have now put it in some pouches so that he can play with it but not eat it!
  We absolutely adore having him.
Thank you

Rebecca, Ian
Dayzee & Bertie

Hello Cats Protection,
We just wanted to let you know about how well Dexter (formally Digby) is doing. He is a lovely addition to our home, after a terrible experience with 2 kittens who unfortunately both died shortly after we homed them. Dexter is such a happy kitten, and is always looking to snuggle with one of us (as you can see by the photos). He makes us smile every day and is always waiting by the door for us when we get home. He is extremely inquisitive and loves being able to explore after recently starting to go out every day.  He's still got the mischievous streak he did when he was very young, but he wouldn't be Dexter if he didn't, and thats just the way we like it!
It has really helped having such a warm and affectionate cat, after being so devastated after our first two little kittens were so poorly.  So thank you to CP for helping us to find such a lovely addition to our little family!

Love,
Kirstin, Neil and of course, Dexter
xx

Hi,
Just wanted to give you an update on
Charlie (formerly George). We adopted Charlie on the 11th December 2010 and to start with he was a very shy boy, but with some coaxing and lots of TLC he has become a real live wire. He loves chasing his fishing rod and has quickly learnt to retrieve toys, dropping them at your feet to throw again and again (he thinks he's a puppy!). Charlie also loves to snuggle, he sits guarding the settee waiting for someone to sit down so he can jump straight on their knee. Charlie has quickly become a much loved member of our family.
Thank you.
Beka, Tom and Kaya.

Sooty and Izzie
Another year has passed and Lucy (now Izzie) is growing up to be a great cat, she is playful, giddy, funny and makes a great family cat. She and our other cat Sooty are so close they are practically inseparable. To say that there is 4 years age difference they are like sisters. They love tormenting each other and sleeping together at night. Izzie is 2 years old next week and is still the cheeky little kitten we got her as. She is really healthy and sociable. Again we would like to thank you for allowing us to adopt her because we love her to pieces.
Our other cat Ellie doesn’t seem to get along with her just yet but they are getting there.
Karen & Megan

Hi, here are some pictures of the two pussycats we adopted from you in December.
We have named them Rocco & Romeo and we love them to bits.
They are such livewires.

Kind Regards,
Barbara Fearn

Branch note: Frosty and Jack Frost.

Chester
Hi,
We adopted Chester on Saturday 8th of January. As you can see from the picture he has settled in very well and is enjoying exploring his new home!!!!!!

From Francesca aged 10.

Elle and Woody
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Cats Protection. We adopted Elle and Woody in Sept 2010 and the house hasn't been quite the same since. They are both very loving and affectionate and get up to lots of mischief together. They are typical brother and sister, one minute curling up together on the sofa the next chasing each other round the house. Thanks again you do a brilliant job! Keep up the good work!

Angus Comes Home - A Brighter Happier Future

The story you are about to read is one of sadness and anguish but is ultimately and remarkably a very happy tale.
It begins with a little cat called Angus and, of course, myself. Angus and I, we sleep together, play together, talk to each other and share our lives with each other. That was until January 4th 2010. That day has been much in my thoughts ever since I saw his little face disappear around the corner of my house. I had been so busy that day and Angus wanted to go out even though I really didn’t want him to, because it was still snowing and this was the first snow little Angus had seen. I selfishly wanted to capture him on camcorder but just hadn’t ”got the time”, Angus, though, was getting really desperate ''I want to go out'' he was shouting and then, I’ve kicked myself so many times since, but I did it, I let him out!.
A day passed and I shouted him! Two days, three, then four, I was asking neighbours, made posters, rang the local vets, rang or went to all the local sanctuaries or shelters, even the local catteries. My friend told me to ring the local council indicating that Angus might have been run over. I just couldn’t make the call. Paul did, luckily he gave me the good news, no news.
By now, Angus was registered on Cats Protection web site and gradually with time I realized my little soul mate wasn’t coming home! It is, I suppose worth mentioning that nearly everyone I spoke to said how naive I had been and that I should have had Angus neutered and chipped but I had not! I was always reluctant, I didn’t want my little love to have any pain and I had thought I was protecting him.
Eleven months passed, I still had thoughts of Angus and often wondered just what had happened to him. Friends asked if I would like another cat but definately not, I wasn’t going to put myself through that again and to even suggest that Angus could be replaced is totally insensitive.
Then on November the sixth I had a phone call from a guy called Graham explaining that he was from Cats Protection - there had been contact with a stray cat very much like Angus not half a mile from me!. I had to wait a few more days and then Graham rang again, '' we have him” he said. I was there 10 minutes later. It was Angus and I’m so happy.

Angus is settling in back home now, he is booked in for neutering and to be chipped, yes this is a must do and should be on everyone’s must do list. If I had done this when I should have, this traumatic time might never have happened. I would have saved Angus and myself a lot of emotional pain. My hope is, if you are agonising over chipping or neutering your little friend, take it from me.  JUST DO IT!

Footnote: Angus is now neutered and chipped.

Penny
Hi Janice,
We adopted Mango, now known as Penny, at the
end of August and we’d just like to let you know she
has settled in extremely well from day one.  She is
full of mischief, stealing Lucy’s little dolls and
running off with them - she makes us laugh
everyday with her antics.  She is also very
affectionate and loves to have a cuddle and often
can’t seem to get close enough!  She is an
absolutely gorgeous cat and is a great addition to
our family.

  Many Thanks
Louise, Richard & Lucy Ward

We adopted these two a few weeks ago - originally Mokie and
Purdy, we've renamed them Millie and Domino.
They've settled right into our household already! They have a
whale of a time racing round together, chasing balls
of scrunched-up paper and climbing up everything (including
people's legs, if there's food about!).  Millie (the ginger girl) is a
real sweetheart, miaowing for fuss and falling asleep in our
arms like a baby.  Domino's a little tinker, always getting into
mischief and leading Millie astray!  They're absolutely gorgeous
and even my husband who claims not to be a 'cat man' looks
very smug when one or both of them choose to fall asleep on
his knee!  Our older cat Pippa is slowly getting used to having
two new bundles of energy around, though they'll still get the
occasional boink on the nose if they try to pounce on her
unexpectedly...  We're so glad we spotted them on your
website and adopted them into our family!

Lynne

Hello Janice,
Just to let you know how our lovely cat Maisey (mother of Rosie and Syd) is getting on with us.
She has become a very affectionate cat but not yet willing to be picked up or come on anyone's knee.  She loves chasing a piece of string around for her exercise half hour morning and night!  We have found that her favourite TV channels are Spring Watch and Countryfile.  Her attention never wanders when these two are on.

She spends a lot of time looking out of the sitting room window watching the birds who come for the food I put out but she hates woodpigeons.  Her tail lashes and her teeth chatter ten to the dozen when she sees them.

We had a heart stopping moment today.  As you know she is an indoor cat but I opened the window a little wider than I intended and she walked out onto the window ledge - 30 feet off the ground.  She responded to our calls however and walked backwards to the open window so that David could get hold of her and lift her in. He got a few scratches in the process and she went into hiding for 5 minutes.

I was pleased to notice today that Waitrose are collecting for Cats Protection as one of their monthly projects so naturally my little grren token went into that box.  Carry on the good work.  If there's anything I can help with such as transport please feel free to call upon my help, won't you?

Best regards, Valerie Kirkham

Hi Janice
thank you for your reply, you are right Ozzy has made a lovely cat.
He has some funny ways, one is when we come in he comes running to us and just throws himself on his side on the floor or the bottom step of the stairs and he wants you to rub his side or under his neck.
We have also found out by accident that he likes birthday candles, unlit of course, he picks them up and carries them around, then throws them up in the air and tosses them about, we find them all over the place.
He likes going out and investigating the garden and also our neighbours gardens.  When he wants to go out or come back in, if the patio doors are shut he stretches up them as far as he can reach then taps very quickly on the doors until we let him in or out.
We would like to say thank you so much for letting us have the chance to adopt him, he has brought us so much fun and laughter.  Keep up the good work you all do at Cats Protection.

Hi Sandra,

Hope you`re ok. Thought I`d send you a photo of Salem. Its hard to believe he will be 1yr old in 8 days time! We love him to bits, he is the sweetest little boy!
Although he has developed a naughty streak _  he`s taken to stealing things off my plate! So far he`s made off with a large scotch egg, a stuffing ball & a party sized pork pie! Thankfully I managed to retrieve them!
He has now learned he can swipe smaller items such as chips with his paw whilst nobody's looking! I can`t be mad at him though, he`s just so adorable!
Hope you like the photo!

Vanessa
